Movies On the Plaza: American Fiction
Join us for STL’s most stunning outdoor cinema experience on Wednesday, August 21st, a free, outdoor screening of American Fiction at the Maryland Plaza fountain!
Based on the 2001 novel “Erasure” by Percival Everett, American Fiction follows a frustrated novelist-professor, Monk, who writes an outlandish satire of stereotypical "Black" books, only for it to be mistaken for serious literature & published to high sales & critical praise. To prove his point, he uses a pen name to write an outlandish Black book of his own, a book that propels him to the heart of hypocrisy & the madness he claims to disdain.
